With a view to improve the education system in the province of Punjab, the PML-N led Punjab government has planned Punjab Higher Education Commission and necessary recommendations in this regard are being finalised.

Senior advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, while presiding over a special meeting held to review proposals to reform the education system, said that provision of quality education is the top priority of the Punjab government and necessary steps are being taken in this connection.

Secretary Higher Education Commission, vice chancellors of all universities, education experts, principals of colleges, officials of school education and other concerned officials attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that vital improvement in syllabus is drastically needed to meet the contemporary challenges. He said most of books included in the syllabus of colleges and universities are being taught for the last 20 years without any improvement.

He said the Punjab government attaches priority to improve the education system by focusing on improving the working of the existing universities, besides opening new universities and enhancing capacities of hard-working and efficient teachers. During the meeting, education experts stressed the need for improving the intermediate education system.
